Buffalo’s resident new play development group.

Founded in July, 2019, Queen City Playwright’s (QCP) is an ensemble-run new play development organization in Buffalo, NY. Our mission is to support and develop the work of WNY playwrights as they prepare their work for submission opportunities both locally and nationally. Unconnected to any specific theatre company or production opportunity, the group’s ultimate goal is to rigorously write and develop new plays for the submission process both locally and nationally. We seek to offer serious career playwrights the resources needed to write 1-2 full length plays per year while also receiving feedback from a supportive group of peer writers, actors, and dramaturgs.

QCP fosters and promotes the work of playwrights in the WNY area and those who claim WNY as home despite their travels. The group is a platform intended to give writers more visibility throughout the Buffalo community. QCP meets monthly and takes applications for membership based on availability. Since 2019, QCP has developed over 50 plays.
